Recently a group of young artists and I during our studio sessions, traveled down the street to sketch our local church, Immaculate Conception. It was a rather chilly lark, but we pretended we were in a snowy part of northern Italy, wandering through the streets, and came upon this wonderful church to add to our sketch books. In the above picture, one of the young chaps did quite a swell job in bringing out the steeple in only ten minutes of time. His was quite superior to my attempt, pictured below, on the left hand side. (I tried again later, with watercolors and met with a little more success, as seen on the right.) It was humbling, yet neat to be able to acknowledge the superior eye and talent of one my students!
