Hello dear reader! After nine months of silence, I am back. Thank you to all those inquired and encouraged me to return. So much has happened during the time of quiet, internal, soulful gestation. Here are the highlights:
- I completed an ADHD career coaching course that helped me take a good long look into what I liked and wanted to do within all the spheres of my life. It really gave me confidence and openness, and the ability to BEGIN to take life at the pace of the next right step.
- I partook in our town’s First annual Christkindle Market, and Christmas Bazaar, offering themed winter gifts featuring our town in watercolor to over 2000 people.
- I offered a series of 3 Living History Micro-Adventures that enriched everyday living by connecting local scenery to historical events. At each, I offered culturally appropriate food and drink, and the opportunity to discuss and create traveling journal entries about the event.
- I completed a year with Evergreene Architectural Arts, which included a large personal love, working on the new Immaculata in my hometown. From the top of her dome down to her back lower wall, I was able to help in some way with all of the Evergreene artwork that now beautifies the sacred space.
- I also completed a year of capturing in watercolor the rising of the new Immaculata in four travel journals. An exhibit of the journey brought joy to two thousand people in a small exhibit at the church’s Consecration ceremony.
- During the last 9 months, I’ve kept up with art projects, some of which I’m not able to share yet, and completed commissions. For regular income, I served as a para-educator with special needs students at our own local St. Mary’s Grade School.
- This summer, thanks to the support of our encouraging local businesses, I’m hosting a variety of art adventures in our lovely downtown St. Marys, while working on freelance projects that range from designing sacred spaces and posters to commissions and a little children’s book.
- This fall will see a new chapter. I have embraced teaching as a well-sculpted skill and talent, and the fact that in-person relationships are extremely important to me. I’ve also seen that my art and writing do not flourish very well in uncertainty. My creativity needs a structure within which it can intertwine and be protected. For now, teaching literature in the beautiful Flint Hills will meet all those needs, nourish my creativity, as well as provide an opportunity for great growth and a chance to trust God in this way of serving him and other souls.
It is with pleasure that I return to this virtual turf and greet you with warm wishes. I hope that you are well and look forward to lift up your heart with future posts!
