Light: The Flame that comes from the Natural Bent

When I follow that inward bent,

Naturally crafted by Him above,

It’s like a little fountain

     cracking,

     and burbling open.

Warm appreciated gratitude for life

Gentle, overflowing,

Ripples down,

Like anointing oil that trickles down,

  trickles down.

Tears within pour out to moisten eyes and face,

They anoint the venture as something true,

Anoint the person as someone real,

Ordained to carry out that inward bent.

And a flame furls up as the fountains of the deep break forth,

The flame furls up, unfolds, like a baby fiddle-leaf fern and starts to shine forth:

gently, warmly: “Look, here is the way.”

It has been a long time since I consistently showed up to watercolor in my little travel journal. This is what it felt like when I started doing it again, and working on some other projects from my heart. Such relief. I hope you have something in your life that is the same!

Sometimes we need to look to others for nourishment and support. The book below has been a just that, and a thoroughly reassuring and entertaining read. If you like writing and insight into an author’s life, Stephen King’s memoir of his craft is sure to please.
